These days, it is safe to say that technology is a bigger part of our lives than ever before. This is perhaps most evident in the fields of business and education, where people now use the newest technology for a number of basic functions. Students send emails and check assignments from their smart phones; offices send out data and presentations on smart tablets, rather than gathering in conference rooms with projector screens. Some companies are even becoming so dependent on new technology that they’re investing in the services of companies like ShareFile for the sake of improved online efficiency and security!
But, in addition to these practical adjustments people are making with the help of new technology, there also seem to be new, fun gadgets and electronics coming out every couple of months, purely the sake of entertaining us and/or simplifying our lives. And with that in mind, here are 5 of the most exciting new electronic products set to debut in 2013.
1. Samsung Galaxy S4
There aren’t many specific rumours out there for the latest Samsung smart phone, but it is expected to be released in 2013, and ought to be quite impressive given that Samsung is competing directly with Apple. The strongest specific rumours for the Galaxy S4 concern a 5 inch, high resolution screen and an updated Android operating system, though more rumours are likely to leak as the year progresses.
2. Xbox 720
The most exciting gaming console to hit the market in years (arguably since the Xbox 360), the latest Xbox is expected in 2013. Specific rumours abound, but the most exciting features expected to be included are a bluray player (which will allow not only for bluray film discs, but also for games with massive data capabilities), and the ability to record live television. It appears that this new console may essentially be an entire home entertainment system in a single device.
3. iPhone 5S
Though Apple’s major phone upgrades are numbered (as in, the iPhone 5), the s-series tend to include fun additions that act almost as stepping stones to the next major upgrades. Some are suggesting that the iPhone 5S, expected in 2013, will come in all of the colours offered for iPod Nanos, which may be the most exciting new feature. Additionally, there are some rumours or a brand new, more efficient processor.
4. 4K Television
4K television – which possesses resolution 4 times higher than the best in HD – already exists, but at incredibly high prices. These televisions, however, are expected to become somewhat more affordable in 2013, effectively putting them on the market.
5. Nest Thermostat
Thermostats usually aren’t too exciting, but the Nest is a potentially huge step toward “smart” home environments. This is a thermostat that can be controlled by mobile devices, conserves energy, and even learns your habits and preferences! It gives you complete control over your home environment, and eventually optimizes your comfort without your lifting a finger to change anything.
