Hello everyone,
I would like to tell you all about a really cool web-series that is starting up called Press Start. The web-series stars Josh Moore (he is a freelance writer for gamenorth.ca and NextGen Player, here is a recent review he did for gamenorth.ca) and behind the camera is Jeff Alyanak (he is jefftheworld the chiptune artist), who both are two very good friends and excellent gamers. This web-series is focused on Jeff and Josh questing for the best and worst retro games in all of video gaming history, the will try their luck finding not only console games but even the classical arcade (coin op) machines to get their fix of the best and the worst retro gaming has to offer.
I had the chance to ask Jeff if their is a planned schedule for each episode and he informed me that a new episode should be up at the end of this week, and then he plans on releasing a new episode every other week (its not fully set in stone to be every other week, they will both be working on the schedule soon). Jeff has also told me that for now they are staying in the Toronto area for a lot of the episodes but they do plan on eventually travelling for other episodes maybe around other Canadian cities and hopefully even some cities in the United States.
The first episode takes place in A & C Games located in Toronto, A & C Games is most likely the only remaining retro gaming store in all of the world, and it’s frequented by legendary gamer and internet & television star Jarett Cale known as Jeremy in Pure Pwnage (The greatest web & television series to touch the internet and our tv’s). So if you live or ever are in Toronto I recommend checking out A & C Games.
From watching the first episode/pilot episode I’m hoping to see a sort of Angry Video Game Nerd like series that gets out of the basement and into little hole in the wall arcades that involve a lot of sweaty and unhygienic gamers fighting over arcade sticks for the “its so bad its good” arcade machines.
Please make sure to check out the Press Start web-series and A & C Games if you are interested in Retro gaming. Also check out jefftheworld’s great chiptune music and look out for some of Josh’s articles on the internet.
STAY NERDY, MY FRIENDS!
