Hello viewers of the internet! I wanted to take this brief moment to give a general introduction as to who I am and what I am bringing to the table of the fine institution that is Nerdy Blog. First, I would like to thank, Mr. David Cruz for this excellent opportunity to write for the site. If it wasn’t for his undying faith in me, I wouldn’t be here in the first place! Second, I want to thank you all for taking the time to read this little schpeal as it has no real relevance to anything! Now let’s begin shall we? We start with a question, “Who am I?”
Well that is an easy question. My name is Jon Myer, a 28 year-old freelance writer/retail-monkey who has been a gamer, critic and fan of geek culture since birth. I have been gaming for 25 years now and have roots in the Atari 2600, playing games like Adventure, E.T. (I am on a campaign to show people how that game is NOT the worst game ever made) and Combat. As a PC gamer, I started young as well with the Apple IIGS and was influenced heavily by the Sierra Adventure games, which helped me learn to read, and type, not to mention other great gems like Space Ace, the original Castle Wolfenstein and the truly classic game, Sticky Bear Alphabet.
Some personal game favorites of mine are as follows: The Space Quest Series (PC), The Shenmue Series (Sega Dreamcast), Shadow of the Colossus (PS2), The Elder Scrolls Series (PC), The Myst Series (PC), Panzer Dragoon Saga (Sega Saturn), and Dragon Force (Sega Saturn).
On this site, I will dedicate myself to the review and critique of movies, film and music that apply to geek and internet culture and I hope to, along the way, get all of the readers up and into the fray of conversation and dialog. Thank you for giving me this brief lapse from actual content and we will see you all again another day!
