Toshiba announced three days ago (27-September-2011) a new smaller model of their Thrive Tablets. The new Thrive tablet is 7in/177.8mm (height), 5in/127mm (width), and 0.47in/11.94mm (thick) which makes it smaller than the original Thrive. The Thrive is internally equal to its older big brother with the same nVidia Tegra 2 Dual Core CPU, front and back cameras that are also 5mp (back) and 2mp (front) but the new Thrive has a LED Flash on the back and It still has WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS like in the original.
The difference of the 7″/177.8mm Thrive and the original is that its media ports are now mini-USB, micro-HDMI, and a microSD slot rather than the full-sized USB, HDMI, and SD slot. Another difference is the new Thrive will not have a removable back and battery according to Engadget’s hands on with the device, so that means the new Thrive will only be available in Black and not like in the original where you can swap out the battery covers for different coloured ones.
The price for the new Thrive is said to be less than $400USD and will be released in December.
