So thanks to the lovely folks at Microsoft, I’ve had the chance to check out an 8GB iteration of the Microsoft Zune. There are a couple things I liked, and overall this is not really a “bad” player like a lot of people reported when it was first released.
Hit the jump for the info!
The Microsoft Zune is actually quite a nice little MP3 player / radio / social tool. Some of my favorite features of the Zune are:
- Great sound comes out of this player.
- Zune Social: Something like Last.FM where anything you’ve listened to is posted to a page where friends and family can see what you’ve been listening too, and what you like.
- Wireless Sync: This baby can sync with your library over your home wireless network.
- Easy to Use, Setup, and Configure.
Now although I did like the Zune, there were a couple of things that drove me absolutely batty. When looking at videos, my video podcasts don’t show up. This is because Microsoft saw fit to have podcasts in a separate menu item. The other thing that bothered me a bit is the photo viewer. When looking through your photo categories, you can only see very small thumbnails from your category. Most of the time it’s very hard to make out what the picture is until you actually view the picture.
In the end, I will be sticking with my iPhone, however this little media player isn’t nearly as bad as the negative press it got from Apple fanboys, and so called “tech enthusiasts!
Cheers Microsoft!
